KRGSA 001-17 A RESOLUTION BY THE KERN RIVER GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY AGENCY (KRGSA) THAT APPLICATION BE MADE TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES TO OBTAIN A GRANT UNDER THE 2017 SUSTAINABLE GROUNDWATER PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is administering the Sustainable Groundwater Planning (SGWP) Grant Program using the funds authorized by the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014 (Proposition 1); and WHEREAS, DWR will award at least $15 million for critically overdrafted groundwater basins on a competitive basis of which a maximum grant amount up to $1.5 million per basin is available; and WHEREAS, Proposition 1 requires a minimum cost share of 50% of the total project cost; and WHEREAS, only one grant will be awarded per basin; and WHEREAS, the KRGSA has been authorized and designated to represent all potential applicants in the Kern Subbasin, and WHEREAS, DWR requires a resolution adopted by the applicant's governing body designating an authorized representative to submit the application and execute an agreement with the State of California for a 2017 SGWP Grant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the KRGSA as follows: That the above recitals and findings are true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference. 2. That application be made to DWR to obtain a grant under the SGWP Grant Program pursuant to the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014 (Proposition 1) (Water Code Section 79700 et sec.). 3.
