For Immediate Release August 15, 2013
On August 14, 2013, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Bakersfield Police received
information that William Wesley Deyoe Jr., 63, of Bakersfield, was having a sexual
relationship with a female juvenile victim and he was planning to take her to Florida in
two days.
The investigation revealed Deyoe had met the 14 year old, female victim through an
internet site and established a relationship her. During these encounters, Deyoe and
the victim had unlawful sexual intercourse.
The investigation further revealed Deyoe's occupation is a truck driver and he was
planning to drive the victim to Florida on his next trip.
The victim was located and was found to be unharmed.
Deyoe was arrested for lewd acts with a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor
and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was booked in the Kern County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Bakersfield Police Department would like to remind the community to be vigilant in
monitoring your children's internet activity and social media interactions, in addition to
those they are conversing with. It’s imperative to have an open line of communication
with your children, especially regarding their online contacts. Remind your children that
they should only contact those people they know in person.
