Today, at approximately 3:34 a.m., Bakersfield Police Officers responded to the 2900 block of
Eagle Valley Place, for a report of a family peace disturbance.
When officers arrived on scene, they were advised by family members that the situation was
under control and officers were no longer needed. Officers then cleared the scene.
At 3:56 a.m., Bakersfield Police received a second call of a family peace disturbance at the
same location, where family members said they were holding down a violent adult male family
member.
When officers arrived on scene at approximately 4:09 a.m., they contacted and handcuffed the
adult male inside the residence, due to his violent behavior. Officers were notified by family
members that if they released their hold on the adult male, he would fight.
Within a few minutes, officers believed the adult male was suffering from a medical condition
due to shallow breathing and weakness in the knees.
The adult male was then assisted to the ground, where the handcuffs were removed.
Officers then noticed the adult male was not breathing and checked for a pulse. A pulse was
not found and officers started CPR. Medical aid responded to the scene and continued CPR.
The adult male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at
approximately 7:47 a.m.
