On July 27 through August 3, eight members of the Bakersfield Police Department
Explorer Post #521 attended the 40th Annual San Diego County Law Enforcement
Explorers Academy located on the campus of University of California San Diego.
Approximately 240 explorers from 27 different Law Enforcement agencies throughout
California attended the academy. Members of the post who attended include Phase 1-
Senior Police Explorer Odalys Donis, Phase 2- Explorer Ruby Garcia, Explorer Cristo
Garcia and Senior Police Explorer Ricardo Flores, Phase 3- Senior Police Explorer
Angelica Victoria, Explorer Sergeant Patricia Scoggan, Explorer Lieutenant Kendra Bias
and Senior Police Explorer Leslie Corrales. The explorers were accompanied to the
academy by Post Advisors, Officer Robert Whaley and Police Service Technician
Nicholas Daigle.
The explorers are tested in academics as well as physical fitness. Bakersfield Police
Explorer Sergeant Patricia Scoggan received the Phase 3 Top Female Physical Fitness
Award.
