The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward up to $5,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint of the suspect, pictured below, for robbery. On Friday, August 9, 2013, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Bakersfield Police Officers responded to Metro PCS, located at 700 East California Avenue for an armed robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived they learned the suspect entered the business armed with a firearm and demanded currency. The suspect fled the business with an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect is described as an Asian or Hispanic male, in his late teens or early 20s, 5’08” tall, with a slim build, wearing a baseball hat, and gray hooded sweatshirt. The possible suspect vehicle, depicted above, is described as a mid 2000s, yellow Chevrolet Cobalt or similar model with ground effects and a tall spoiler. This robbery is possibly related to three previous robberies at The Grainery, 400 South Union Avenue, Metro PCS, 1030 Chester Avenue and Metro PCS, 6300 White lane. Secrecy is guaranteed to those who call. Callers will be asked to select a code name and code number when they provide information to Secret Witness. Should additional contact with the caller be necessary, the code name will be published along with a request for the original caller to establish contact. Once contact is made, the caller will be asked to provide their original code number for verification purposes. The same steps will be taken to pay a reward to the caller. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, media outlets, and corporate sponsors. Previous Release July 3, 2013 The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in a series of robberies. The suspect, pictured in the attached video surveillance photographs, is wanted in connection with the following three business robberies: June 21, 2013 at approximately 5:08 p.m. – The Grainery, 400 South Union Avenue June 24, 2013 at approximately 1:15 p.m. – Metro PCS, 1030 Chester Avenue July 2, 2013 at approximately 12:36 p.m. – Metro PCS, 6300 White Lane During each robbery, the suspect entered the business, armed with a firearm, and demanded currency. The employees complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspect fled on foot. After the most recent robbery, the suspect fled from the business eastbound on foot, and was last seen running into an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Mei Yen Court. The suspect is described as an Asian or Hispanic male, in his late teens or early 20s, 5’08” tall, with a slim build, wearing a baseball hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and dark shoes.
