The Bakersfield Police Department has made an arrest for a man suspected of human
trafficking, physical assault and sexual assault.
On Monday, September 9, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Bakersfield Police were
dispatched to a call of suspicious circumstances and possible sexual assault in the 900
block of Real Road.
Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult female victim, with obvious visible injuries. The
investigation revealed Hasani Syas, 36, of Sacramento, had forced the victim to engage
in acts of prostitution over the last year. On September 9, when the victim tried to
escape, Syas struck the victim, strangled her, and sexually assaulted her, causing
injury. During the assault, he also threatened to kill her.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Syas was arrested for sexual assault, human trafficking, spousal abuse, pimping and
criminal threats.
