HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 111-13RESOLUTION NO. 1 - 13 RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN POLICE MOTOROLA DISPATCH CONSOLE EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO INTEGRATE INTO THE EXISTING CITY POLICE DISPATCH INFRASTRUCTURE AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $80,000. WHEREAS, the CITY of Bakersfield is in need of replacement dispatch console equipment for the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the CITY currently uses Motorola dispatch console equipment exclusively for the Police Department because of their excellent track record and acceptance as a standard within the City of Bakersfield; and WHEREAS, the CITY is required to ensure that the Police Department's Public Safety Communications Dispatch Center must be compatible with the City's existing infrastructure; and WHEREAS, compatible radio dispatch console equipment is only available from Motorola Communications, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Director recommends the Council find said Motorola radio dispatch console equipment can only be reasonably obtained from Motorola Communications, Inc. and because of the need to integrate the product into an existing City system, recommends that the Council dispense with the bidding, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: The above - recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of the emergency dispatch console equipment can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor (Motorola Communications, Inc.) because of the necessity to successfully integrate such equipment into the existing City system. 3.
