HomeMy WebLinkAbout13_10_01 Saturation Post Release BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Michaela Sims Public Information Office 661-326-3803 msims@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release October 1, 2013 Kern “Avoid the 18” DUI Task Force Announce Results of DUI Saturation Patrol On Saturday, September 28, 2013 between the hours of 7 pm and 3 am, officers from the “Avoid the 18” Kern DUI Task Force” targeted suspected DUI drivers by participating in DUI Roving Saturation Patrols in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests in the greater Bakersfield area. The “AVOID the 18” Kern DUI Task Force is comprised of several law enforcement agencies from Kern County. The officers conducted 74 traffic stops and arrested 13 subjects for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The officers located and recovered a stolen vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle was arrested for various felony offenses. This special DUI operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
