A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT HOCKEY
SPECTATOR NETTING CANNOT BE REASONABLY
OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING
PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE
DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING
THEREFOR, AND PURCHASE SAID EQUIPMENT
FROM SPORT SYSTEMS UNLIMITED IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $77,000.
WHEREAS, the current spectator safety netting is approximately 11 years old and
has visible damage from years of use; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to provide a higher level of safety for hockey
spectators at the Rabobank Arena; and
WHEREAS, an upgraded motorized retractable netting system will improve patron
safety and is less labor intensive for installation prior to hockey games; and
WHEREAS, AEG Management staff
provided by Sport Systems Unlimited will
equipment; and
has determined that the netting system
successfully integrate into existing facility
WHEREAS, Selected supplier can meet specified time constraints for installation of
netting to successfully provide a higher level of safety for spectators for the current
Bakersfield Condors 2013 -2014 hockey season; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The above - referenced hockey spectator netting can be reasonably
obtained from Sports Systems Unlimited and will be installed to provide a higher level of
safety for patrons of the 2013 -2014 hockey season.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding, in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for such equipment shall not exceed seventy
seven thousand dollars ($77,000).
