Today at approximately 5:21 a.m., Bakersfield Police responded to the 8500 block of
Olive Drive for an injury traffic collision.
When officers arrived, they learned a 2011 gray Chevrolet Camaro was travelling east
bound on Olive Drive, when it struck an adult male bicyclist travelling northbound
crossing the #1 and #2 lanes of Olive Drive.
The adult male bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with moderate to major
injuries.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Bakersfield Police Department wants to remind the community when riding a
bicycle to wear a helmet and when riding a bicycle during evening and early daylight
hours to use a headlamp and reflectors on the bicycle.
