RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT WASH RACK
EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
THROUGH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE
WITH FORMAL BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT TO EXCEED
$125,000.
WHEREAS, The City of Bakersfield Public Works Department's wash rack
equipment is antiquated and is in need of upgrading; and
WHEREAS, the unique characteristics involved with the purchase of wash
rack equipment due to the various proprietory washing systems, differences in their
performance, and the need to integrate into an existing system makes it impractical for
normal bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined that the purchasing of wash
rack equipment can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of the need to
successfully integrate such work, supplies, equipment and materials into an existing City
system, and has recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding therefor,
in accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein
by reference.
The Council hereby finds that the purchase of wash rack equipment
for the City of Bakersfield Public Works Department Corporation Yard
can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of the
need to successfully integrate such work, supplies, equipment and
materials into an existing City system, and authorizes the Finance
Director under Bakersfield Municipal Code Section 3.20.060 to
dispense with bidding therefor and to negotiate the purchase of same,
