Investigation has revealed that this offense is gang related and a suspect has been
identified and his whereabouts are being sought. The suspect is identified as:
Brendan Sanders, black male, 18, 5’7”, 135,
black hair (last known to be in braids), brown eyes.
There is a warrant for Sanders’ arrest for Murder and Participation in a Criminal Street
Gang. The Secret Witness Reward is also still being offered for information leading to
the arrest and conviction of Sanders.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating
a person, or persons, responsible for a homicide.
On November 24, 2013, at approximately 12:52 am, officers of the Bakersfield Police
Department responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 700 block of Geneva Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located a large crowd of people in the street. Officers also located

a victim of gunshot wounds in the street. The victim was identified as Jerry Gray who
was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the investigation, officers learned of a second gunshot victim who was
transported by private means to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward up to $5,000.00 for information
leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint of the suspect or suspects responsible for
the murder of Jerry Gray.
The Secret Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to
those who call. Callers will be asked to select a code name and code number when they
provide information to Secret Witness. Should additional contact with the caller be
necessary, the code name will be published along with a request for the original caller to
establish contact. Once contact is made, the caller will be asked to provide their original
code number for verification purposes. The same steps will be taken to pay a reward to
the caller. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary
board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, media
outlets, and corporate sponsors.
