One of the suspects used a cellular telephone to simulate a firearm and told the clerk to put his hands up in the air. The clerk said he thought he was going to be robbed at gunpoint and immediately retrieved a firearm. The clerk fired one shot striking one of the suspects in the head. Store surveillance video corroborated the clerk’s statement. With the exception of the suspect who was hospitalized and unable to provide a statement, all of the suspects were later located and interviewed. The three suspects that were interviewed by detectives were arrested for Robbery, Conspiracy, Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon (firearm). The arrested suspects are identified as: 1: Alejandro Jacabo, 26 of Bakersfield 2: Miguel Segrua, 30 of Bakersfield 3: Luis Jacabo, 22 of Bakersfield. The fourth suspect is still hospitalized at Kern Medical Center. His name will be released in the event he is arrested. Previous Release December 30, 2013 On December 30, 2013, at 12:54 am Bakersfield police officers were dispatched to the Mi Tierra Market located at 300 South Owens St. regarding a robbery with a firearm that had just occurred. The victim also reported he had shot one of the suspects. Once officers arrived on scene they located evidence that was consistent with one of the suspects being shot however; the suspects had since fled from the store. The victim 13-267875 reported that three Hispanic males entered the business and at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The victim said the suspects ordered the store employees to the ground at which time the victim retrieved a handgun and fired a single round at the suspects. At 1:05 am the Police Department received a call from Kern Medical Center indicating that a victim of a gunshot wound to the head that had arrived at the hospital by taxi. Officers located the taxi and taxi driver a short time later near Niles St. and Mt. Vernon Ave. The taxi driver was not involved in the robbery and has been cooperating with the investigation. Additional investigation revealed that four suspects entered the store. One suspect is at Kern Medical Center; two suspects have been located and detained, leaving the fourth suspect outstanding. Detectives are working on leads to identify and locate the outstanding suspect. Investigation also led to a residence in the 100 block of Kincaid St. where detectives are currently serving a search warrant. The suspect who was shot is listed in critical condition at Kern Medical Center. Names of the involved parties are not being released at this time due to the fluid nature of this investigation.
