On December 17, 2013, at 9:43 am the Bakersfield Police Department received a call to
check the welfare of a subject in a vehicle in the 800 block of Citadel Rd. (East Belle
Terrace Park). On arrival officers located an elderly adult male suffering from an
apparent gunshot wound. It was later determined that the victim was sleeping in his
vehicle when unknown suspect/s fired several shots at the vehicle, striking the victim in
the head. The victim’s vehicle is depicted in this crime scene photograph. The motive
for this crime is unknown. The victim is still recovering in an area hospital.
The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward up to $5,000.00 for information
leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint of the suspect or suspects responsible for
this offense.
The Secret Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to
those who call. Callers will be asked to select a code name and code number when they
provide information to Secret Witness. Should additional contact with the caller be

necessary, the code name will be published along with a request for the original caller to
establish contact. Once contact is made, the caller will be asked to provide their original
code number for verification purposes. The same steps will be taken to pay a reward to
the caller. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary
board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, media
outlets, and corporate sponsors.
The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating
the suspect or suspects responsible for this crime. Anyone with information regarding
