HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-01-10 4230 California Ave Vehicle Burglary Update Arrest 13-268720 BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Sergeant Joe Grubbs Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 jgrubbs@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release January 10, 2014 On January 9, 2014, Senior Officer Clint Blackburn and his trainee Officer Marco Vasquez saw the photograph of the suspect vehicle in the daily briefing sheet. Later in the day at about 12:45 pm after completing a call, the officers observed the suspect vehicle parked in the 5000 block of Sea Star Ln. When the officers attempted to make contact at the front door of the residence the vehicle was parked in front of, Gregory Daniels, 29, of Bakersfield, ran out of the back door and jumped over a fence. Daniels was detained in the rear yard of a neighbors’ residence and found to be in possession of the key for the suspect vehicle which was equipped with false license plates and determined to be a City stolen vehicle. A search of the suspect vehicle revealed numerous items of suspected stolen property as well as numerous burglary related tools used for picking locks and a key chain containing over 50 keys and remote door lock fobs. Daniels was interviewed by detectives and was arrested for five counts of Burglary, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools and Fraudulent Use of and Access Card. Detectives stated that based on the amount of stolen property Daniels possessed and Daniels’ own statements, Daniels is a prolific thief who is now in custody. Detectives are searching reports attempting to match property that Daniels was in possession of, to loss reported by victims of theft. Previous Release January 9, 2014 13-268720 The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying and locating the following suspect and suspect vehicle wanted for Vehicle Burglary. On December 31, 2013, at 12:30 pm a suspect, described as a: white male, 30’s, 5’9”, 160-170 lbs., wearing a black shirt and denim shorts forced entry into a victim’s vehicle. A witness used their cellular telephone to take a picture of the vehicle the suspect entered after the offense. The suspect vehicle is described as a: mid 90’s silver Honda, possibly an Accord with a partial license plate 4D??223.
