ARRESTS MADE IN THE MURDER OF KEVIN MCMAHAN
Detectives have been investigating the murder of Kevin McMahan that occurred on
March 2, 2013, at South Real Road and SR58. Detective Kroeker recently developed
information in the case that lead to the identification of two suspects responsible for
McMahan’s murder. Detective Kroeker obtained arrest warrants for Spencer Rogers, 24
of Bakersfield and Walter Goodson, 38 of Bakersfield for Murder, Conspiracy and
Participation in a Criminal Street Gang.
Officers of the Bakersfield Police Department Career Criminal Apprehension Team and
the Special Enforcement Unit located and arrested both Rogers and Goodson on
January 14, 2014. The suspects were booked into the Kern County Jail for their arrest
warrants.

On Saturday 03/02/13 at 2:30 am, Bakersfield Police Officers responded to SR58 and
South Real Road regarding a report of shots fired and multiple victims of gunshots.
Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle in the roadway occupied by a single
adult male driver suffering from multiple gunshots. The victim’s injuries were determined
to be major. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he succumbed
to his injuries.
A second adult male victim, who was determined to be a passenger inside the vehicle at
the time of the shooting, was picked up from the scene and transported to a local
hospital by a passerby. Officers contacted the second victim at the hospital and learned
his injuries were non-life threatening.

Investigation at the scene indicated that the occupant/s of a passing vehicle fired
multiple gunshots at the victim’s vehicle as they drove westbound on SR58 approaching
South Real Road.
There is no known suspect information at this time. The suspect/s are still at large and
the investigation is continuing.
