HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-01-28 2612 Oswell St. Subway Robbery Arrests 14-19195 BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Sergeant Joe Grubbs Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 jgrubbs@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release January 28, 2014 On January 26, 2014 at 9:21 pm, Bakersfield police officers responded to the Subway, located at 2612 Oswell Street, regarding a robbery to the business, which just occurred. Witnesses reported two suspects entered the business, one of which was in possession of a firearm, and ordered employees to the ground. One of the suspects removed, and took, the lower portion of the cash register. Both suspects fled the business with the loss and entered a waiting vehicle, which was occupied by a third suspect. A witness reported the suspect vehicle was seen entering westbound SR178. The vehicle was described as a: newer silver Chevrolet sedan with an out of state license plates. Shortly after Officer Burich conducted a stop on a vehicle that was similar in description, in the 4400 block of Union Avenue and detained the three occupants. Officers’ located evidence in the vehicle related to the robbery, as well as evidence from the previous night’s robbery at the Subway located at 1525 Columbus Street. The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for robbery and conspiracy. They are identified as: Zani Maree Funke, 25, of Bakersfield Kevin Lee Jones, 25, of Bakersfield Ryan Church Kohr, 24, of Bakersfield Jones was arrested for an additional count of robbery for the offense at 1525 Columbus St. This investigation is ongoing. 14-19195 Anyone with information regarding either of these robberies, are urged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111 or Detective Dennis Park at (661) 326-3553 You can now send an anonymous text message to the Bakersfield Police Department.
