For Immediate Release February 6, 2014
On February 6, 2014, at 3:52 am officers responded the 700 block of Vine St. regarding
to the report of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The investigation revealed that the
offense took place in the 100 block of Niles St. at 3:30 am. Through investigation
officers developed probable cause to arrest Linda Elliot, 29, of Bakersfield for Assault
with a Deadly Weapon; however she was not located at the time of the investigation.
On February 6, 2014, at 12:11 pm officers were dispatched to 2109 Custer Ave.
regarding information that Elliot was at the residence. Officers responded and, due to
the close proximity of the school to the residence, placed Frank West School on
lockdown as a precaution. Officers conducted a surrender call-out of the residence. The
parties that exited the residence informed officers that Elliot was inside the residence.
Once officers entered the residence they determined that Elliot had fled the residence
on foot.
Officers conducted a search of the area and located Elliot barricaded in a shed in the
rear yard of a nearby residence. Elliot was taken into custody with the assistance of a
police service dog. Elliot was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and
transported to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries. She will be booked into the Kern
County Jail when she is released from Kern Medical Center. Frank West School
remained on lockdown for approximately one hour and five minutes.
