GTA 14-29437/28016 BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Sergeant Joe Grubbs Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 jgrubbs@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release February 13, 2014 The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying and locating the following suspect and the suspect/victim vehicle wanted for Attempt Grand Theft Auto and Possession of Stolen Property. On February 9, 2014, at 9:40 am the following suspect drove into the Sears parking lot located at 3001 Ming Ave. in a: 1998 black Honda Civic 2-door Ca. Lic. 4AQL843 and parked next to a white Honda. The suspect, described as a: white male, mid-20’s, 5’8”-10”, thin build wearing a black baseball cap with blue bill gray hooded sweatshirt, white t-shirt and blue jeans entered the white Honda by unknown means and attempted to steal the vehicle however; was unsuccessful because the vehicle was equipped with a “Club” type steering wheel anti-theft device. The suspect entered the suspect vehicle which was a previously reported stolen vehicle and fled. 14-29437/28016 Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Dennis Murphy at (661) 326-3567 or the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
