HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-02-28 Valley Plaza GTA Arrests 14- BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Sergeant Joe Grubbs Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 jgrubbs@bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release February 28, 2014 On February 27, 2014, Bakersfield Police Detectives from the Auto Theft Detail conducted a surveillance operation at the Valley Plaza Mall targeting vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries that have been occurring in the parking lot. At about 4:45 pm detectives observed Tommy Calloway, 28, Nicholas Wooldridge, 21, and John Hunter, 34, all of Bakersfield, behaving suspiciously inside the mall and in the mall parking lot. Detectives observed all three suspects enter a white Honda that was determined to be a stolen vehicle. Detectives contacted the suspects in the parking lot and arrested Calloway and Wooldridge. Hunter fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later with the use of a police service dog. Hunter was arrested for Grand Theft Auto, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft with Prior Theft Convictions and Resisting Arrest. Calloway was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft with Prior Theft Convictions and Conspiracy. Wooldridge was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and Conspiracy. Both Hunter and Calloway are AB109 California Prison Realignment probationers.
