For Immediate Release March 10, 2014
The Bakersfield Police Department would like to invite the community to the first Citizen
Volunteer Unit graduation. The volunteers have spent hours learning the history of the
Bakersfield Police Department, how the department operates through dispatch as well
as patrol and even received a tour of important police landmarks throughout
Bakersfield. The Citizen Volunteers will be assisting with a variety of police related
functions including citizen patrol and clerical assistance. On Thursday, March 13, 2014,
at 6:15 P.M., those who completed the four week academy will gather at the City
Council Chambers for the graduation commencement with a reception to follow.
The media and public are encouraged to attend.
