Today Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit investigated allegations of child
molestation and possession of child pornography. The investigation revealed two children had
been the victims of ongoing sexual abuse. The suspect was identified as Santiago Hernandez,
age 34, of Bakersfield. At about 7:30pm Detectives located Hernandez in the 300 block of
Industrial Street and he was arrested without incident.
Hernandez has been booked into the Kern County Jail for the following charges; Lewd and
Lascivious Act with a child, Sodomy with a child under 18, Sodomy with a child under 16,
Production of Child Pornography, and Sexual Exploitation of Children.
The investigation is ongoing; anyone with information regarding Santiago Hernandez is urged to
