For Immediate Release April 4, 2014
On April 8, 2014, an Officer with the Bakersfield Police Department located the suspect
vehicle in this case in the area of Truxtun Ave., and Lake Truxtun. An enforcement stop
was made on the vehicle and the female driver, identified as Colleen Waits, was taken
into custody without incident. William Kang was found to be hiding in the rear
passenger compartment of the vehicle. He refused to comply with the officers
commands, and was taken into custody with the assistance of a Police K-9. Kang and
Waits were identified as suspects responsible for an unrelated residential burglary and
both were arrested for one count of first degree burglary and conspiracy. Waits was
booked into the Kern County Jail. Kang was also arrested for one count of vehicle
burglary, resisting arrest, and parole violation. He was booked into the Kern County Jail
after being treated at Kern Medical Center.

With the assistance of the community the suspect in this case has been identified as:
William Kang, asian male, 50, 6’0”, 170 lbs.
black hair, brown eyes, of Bakersfield.
There is Probable Cause to arrest Kang for Vehicle Burglary from the offense at the In
Shape City on March 20, 2014, as well as Probable Cause to arrest for a Residential
Burglary that occurred on March 25, 2014, in the 10500 block of Marazion Hill Ct. There
is also an outstanding warrant for Kang for Parole Violation.

The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying
and locating the following suspect and suspect vehicle wanted for Vehicle Burglary. On
March 20, 2014, at 8:30 am the following suspect was seen breaking the window of the
victim vehicle, entering and removing items. The suspect was video recorded by a
nearby witness to the offense. The suspect is described as a:
white or hispanic male, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’9”, thin build
black medium length hair, wearing a tan long sleeved shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect vehicle is described as a:
2002 Toyota Camry or Corolla, silver or light green
