For Immediate Release April 7, 2014
The Bakersfield Police Department is pleased to announce the addition of a Cold Cases
link on the Bakersfield Police Department website homepage. The cold cases link
involves cold, unsolved homicide cases only. The link can be found by accessing the
BPD homepage at:
http://www.bakersfieldcity.us/police/index.htm
Once on the homepage locate the Cold Cases icon on the right side of the screen.
Click on the Cold Cases icon and a Cold Cases page will appear. On the Cold Cases
page there are seven tabs representing years the cold unsolved homicide cases
occurred, in ten year increments, with the exception of the first, 1959 and older and last,
2010 to present. When the year tab is clicked a brief description of each case including
the Detective assigned to investigate the case and a photo of the victim (if available) will
appear. There are currently a total of 44 cold homicide cases on the website with
additional cases being added in the future.
In our continuing effort to bring closure to these cases and to the families of the victims,
the Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance by providing
any available information on any of these cold homicide cases.
You can now send an anonymous text message to the Bakersfield Police Department. It’s quick and it’s easy.
Simply enter 274637 into your phone and text BPDCRIMES along with your message. The text is sent to the
police department and the sender remains completely anonymous.
