CITY ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW
PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
City Manager Alan Tandy is pleased to announce the appointment of Assistant Public Works
Director, Nick Fidler as the new Public Works Director. Mr. Fidler has been serving as the
interim director since the departure of Raul Rojas in late March.
A native of Bakersfield, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from
San Diego State University in 1997. After holding positions with Kern County and the
Department of Transportation (Caltrans), he began his career with the City in 1999 as an
Engineer I. He was subsequently promoted to the positions of Engineer II, Civil Engineer III,
General Services Division Superintendent and, most recently, as the Assistant Public Works
Director.
Mr. Fidler will be responsible for directing the multiple activities of the Public Works
Department. Commenting on his selection, City Manager Alan Tandy, stated, “Nick has over
15 years of exposure to the wide-ranging functions in Public Works; his knowledge and project
management experience will be strong assets as he assumes his new leadership role.”
