A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT NEW
SERVICE PISTOLS CANNOT BE REASONABLY
OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING
PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE
FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH
BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE OBTAINING NEW
SERVICE PISTOLS FROM GUNARAMA, INC.
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department ( "BPD ") is transitioning the
service pistol authorized to be carried by sworn personnel from a Glock .40
caliber handgun to a Glock Generation 4, 9 milimeter handgun; and
WHEREAS, BPD has been using Glock .40 caliber handguns for many years,
and sworn personnel have been trained on the Glock platform and have Glock
accessories including leather holsters and magazine pouches; and
WHEREAS, in order to avoid having to retrain officers on a new platform
and order new accessories for all sworn personnel, BPD has decided to switch to
the Glock Generation 4, 9 millimeter handguns; and
WHEREAS, Gunarama Wholesale, Inc. is the only authorized law
enforcement dealer which will exchange the Glock .40 caliber handguns for
new Glock Generation 4, 9 millimeter handguns at no cost to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. For the reasons mentioned above, the handguns can only be
reasonably obtained from this vendor.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. There is no expenditure of funds necessary for said equipment.
