MILESTONES The TRIP team would like to express our appreciation to the Kern County Board of SuK demonstrated full support for the Thomas Roads Improvement Program by approving the adv $40 million contribution at their meeting on June 10, 2014. The County has already invested r million to move TRIP projects forward, and had pledged an additional $40 million to be deli� Moving up the delivery date provides the City with the necessary cash flow to have s simultaneously under construction in the coming months, and to appropriate to future pro, Council approved the agreement on June 25th, and the City received the check the following c completes the County's financial contributions, Kern County remains committed to the pro continue to work alongside the City, Caltrans, and Kern COG to complete improvements tc transportation network. PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION Three projects are currently under construction. Please see page 4 for new construction photos. Westside Parkway 6C Contractor: Security Paving Company 47% complete; anticipated completion: late 2014 Excavation at Renfro Road has been completed, allowing the contractor to construct the w Renfro Road Bridge. The contractor expects to place the bridge abutments and columns then e in the coming month. The base layer of asphalt paving has been laid and asphalt paving will con the west end of the project and at the westbound loop on-ramp at Allen Road. Other aci completing and backfilling the retaining wall for the Allen Road eastbound off-ramp, barrier r� TRIP Statu State Route 178/Morning Drive Interchange Contractor: Granite Construction 40% complete; anticipated completion: late 2015 June was an active month on the Morning Drive worksite as the contractor finished grinding a on-site materials, continued work on the drainage systems, excavated roadway, and began earthen foundation for the "rat slab" at the bridge. This is the 24th bridge to be built under the but the first to utilize this type of support structure. At the Council meeting of June 4, 2014, Councilmember Weir requested economic opportunity area (EOA) be created for an area around East Hills Mc proposed to comprise the East Hills EOA is bounded by Haley Street o Columbus Street on the north, Oswell Street on the east (including the co zoned land on the east side of Oswell), and Bernard Street on the south. The signals on Rosedale Highway from Buck Owens Blvd. to Mohawk Street c Caltrans' jurisdiction. This includes the signal adjacent to Costco. Caltrans has approved the use of radar speed feedback signs for use on stre the State of California. These signs display the driver's current speed as they c the sign. These type of signs can also record and store speed data and volu This data can be downloaded and used to create reports. However, the manufacturer does not recommend the use of radar display sigi vehicle volume counts. Due to the nature of how radar operates, if vehicl� roadway are densely packed or approximately the same size, this will occasional missed counts or double counts affecting volume totals. Ea message sign costs approximately $6,700 for the sign unit only. A roadway would require a sign for each direction. This cost does not include the pole, hardware, labor, and maintenance. The City has never installed these types of signs due to the initial cost and repl cost due to vandalism or useful life of the product.
