RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO IMPROYE TI{AT
PORTION OF UNION AVENUE FROM THE NORTHERLY PRO-
PERTY LINE OF TRUXTUN AND EAST TRUXTUN AVENUES
TO THE NORTI{ERLY CURB LINE OF SUMNER STREET. TO
BE KNOWN AS STREET DISTRICT NO. 54 AND TO ISSUE
BONDS IN PAYME~T THEREFOR.
BE IT RESOLVED BY TFE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFI~ILD,
That it is the intention of the City Oouncit of the City of Bakersfield
to order the following work to be done and improvement to be made in
the said City, to-wit:
That the hereinafter described portions ofUnion Avenue
and a strip three feet on either side thereof be graded and tamped
and thereupon the following described portions of Union Avenue, to-wit:
beginning at a point in the northerly line of East Truxtun Avenue 45.75
feet west of the east line of Union Avenue and running thence west
44.00 feet; thence northeasterly on a curve whose radius is 72.5 feet,
a distance of 55.17 feet to the point of tangency on a line bearing
north; thence north on a line 12 feet westerly from and parallel to
the center line of Union Avenue 853.46 feet to the beginning of a curve;
thence northwesterly along said curve, whose ra~ius'is 60.74 feet a
distance of 58.73 feet to a point in the southerly line of 19th Street;
thence north eighty-seven degrees, fifty-four minutes and ten seconds
east, (N-87°- 54'- lO"-E) 76.55 feet; thence southwesterly along a
curve wno~e radius is 66.22 feet a distance of 61.10 feet to the
Point of tangency on a line bearing south; thence south, on a line 12
feet easterly from and parallel to %ne center line of Union Avenue
90~;46 feet to the point of beginnir~g.
Also beginning at a point in the northerly line of 19th
Street 19.5 feet east of the west line of Union Avenue and runnin~
thence northeasterly on a curve, w~ose radius is 60.74 feet, a distance
of 58.73 feet to the point of tangency on a line bearing north; thence
north on a line 12 feet westerly from and parallel to the center line

of Union Avenue 1000.65 feet to the beginning of a curve; thence north-
easterly on said curve whose radius is 61.24 feet a distance of 85.14
feet; thence east 2.62 feet; thence south seventy-three degrees, fifty-
five minutes and tnirty-six seconds, east, (S - ?30- 55' -
17.57 feet to a point in the easterly line of Union Avenue 14.44 feet
south of the north easterly corner of Union Avenue and Sunset Street;
thence south along the easterly line of Union Avenue 54.37 feet to a
point 14.44 feet north of the southeasterly corner of Union Avenue
and Sunmer Street; thence north seventy-three degrees, fifty-five
minutes and thirty-six seconds, west, (N' 730- 55' - S6"- W), 17.57
feet; thence west 2.62 feet thence southwesterly on a curve whose
radius is S0.66 feet a distance of 43.74 feet to the point of tangency
on a line bearing south; thence south on a line 12 feet easterly from
and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue 976.10 feet to the
beginning of a curve; thence southeasterly along said curve whose
rexlius is 60.0S feet, a distance of 54.81 feet; thence south eighty-
nine degrees, fifteen minutes and thirty seconds, west, (S- 89°-
30'- W), 76.~0 feet to the point of beginning.
The same being a strip 24 feet wide along and 12 feet on
either side of the center line of Union Avenue from the northerly line
of Truxtun and East TruxtGn Avenue to a line 13.88 feet southerly from
and parallel to the northerly line of Sumner Street, except that the
approaches at Truxtma Avenue, 19th and Park Streets and Sumner Street
be widened to meet existing pavements, including all intersections of
streets and alleys (excepting such portion thereof as have already been
done to official line and grade; and excepting also such portions there-
of as are required by law to be paved, kept in order or repair l~y any
person or company having railroad or car-tracks thereon;) be paved
with a six inch cement concrete pavement and t~at cement concrete
c~lverts covered with corrugated iron and provided with cast iron
manhole frames fitted with steel cover~ be constructed, all of the
aforesaid work andimprovement is to be done in accordance with t~e
plans and specifications heretofore and on the 7~Aday of.~z~._, /~w/

1~, adopted by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield, said
plane being entitled "PLAN ~0R T~E PAVING OF STREET DISTRICT N0. 54 IN
THE CITY 0E BAK~SPIELD, CALIF.', and said specifications being entitlet
"SPECIFICATIONS ~R THE GRADING AND TAMPING OF SUB-BASE AND THR~ FOOT
SHOULI~ER, CONSTRUCTION OF SIX INC~ CEMENT CONCRETE PAVEMENT AND CON-
STRUCTION OF C~MENT CONCRETE CULVERTS COVERED WITH CORRUGATED IRON AND
PROVIDED WITH CAST IRON M~OLE FRAMES PITTED WITH STEEL COVERS IN
STREET DISTRICT NO. 54 IN THE CITY OF B~XERS~IELD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA,"
and which said plans and specifications are on file in the office of
the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield, and are hereby referred to
and by such reference made a part and portion hereof, and in this
connection the said plans and specifications also show the exact loca-
tion of the aforesaid work and improvement.
And ~hereas, said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of said City Council, is of more than local end ordinary
public benefit said Council hereby makes the expense of said work and
improvement chargeable upon a district benefitted by said work and
improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof
and which said district is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northerly line of East Trux-
tun Avenue 125 feet easterly from the easterly line of Union Avenue
thence northerly on a line parallel to and 125 feet distant from t~e
easterly line of Union Avenue to a point in the southerly line of
Eureka Street thence northeasterly to a point in the northerly line of
Eureka Street 316.31 feet easterly from the easterly line of Union Ave-
nme; thence northeasterly to a point in the southerly line of Park
Street 404.40 feet4from the easterly line of Union Avenue; thence
northwesterly to a point in the northerly line of Park Street 307.33
feet easterly from the easterly line of Union Avenue; thence nor~erly
to a point in the southerly line of Grove Street 319.7 feet easterly
from the easterly line of Union Avenue; thence nortawesterly to a point
in the northerly line of Grove Street 195.78 feet easterly from the
easterly line of Union Avenue; thence northeasterly to a point in a
line parallel to and 150 feet northerly from the northerly line of
Sumner Street said point being 330.99 feet easterly alon~ said line
from the easterly line of Union Avenue;produced northerly; thence west-
erly along said line parallel to and 150 feet northerly from the north-
erly line of Sumner Street to a point in the easterly line of Union
Avenue produced northerly; thence southwesterly to a point in the west-
erly line of Union Avenue; 115.5 feet northerly from the northerly line
of 22nd Street; thence westerly on a line parallel to and 115.5 feet
northerly from the northerly line of 22nd Street 235.04 feet; thence
southerly to a point in the northerly line of Truxtun Avenue 234.43
feet westerly from the westerly line of Union Avenue and thence
easterly along the northerly lines of Truxt,~n and East Truxt~n Avenues
to the point of beginning.
Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent un-
paid assessments, and bear interest at the rate of seven (~) per cent
per annum will be issued hereunder:' in the manner provided by the Improve
merit Bond Act of 1915, and all acts amendatory thereof, the last instal[
ment of ~nich bonds shall mature nine years ~'rom the 2nd day of July
next succeeding nine months from their date.
Except as hereinabove otherwise provided for the issuance
of said serial bonds all of the herein proposed work shall be done in
pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California,
designated the Improvement Act of 1911, approved April 7tn, 1911 and
all acts amendatory thereof.
Notice is hereby given that on Monday the/~L~ay of
~-/~x~ , 1921, at 8 o'clock P.M. at a regular meeting
of

City Council in the 6ouncil Chambers of said City Coancil in the City
Hall of the City of Bakersfield any and all persons having any objec-
tions to the proposed work and improvement may appear before said City
Council and snow cause why said improvement should not be carried out
in accordance with said Resolution.

and The Bakersfield Californian, daily newspapers printed, published
amd circulated in said City of Bakersfield, and hereby designated for
that purpose by said 0ity Oo~ncil.
The Street Superintendent of said City of Bakersfield
shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the line of said contem-
plated work and improvement and along all tlue open streets within said
district notices of the passage of this Resolution of Intention in the
manner and fern required by law.
