BONDS IN PAYMENT THEREFORE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY T~rE COU~'CIL OF TW? CITY OF BAKERSFIFLD,
That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Bakersfield,
to order the following work to be done and improvement to be made in
the said City, to-wit:
That Niles Street be graded, between the existing., official
curbs thereon, from the easterly line of Baker Street to the westerly
line of Williams Street; that cement concrete gutters be constructed
on either side of the roadway and that said roadway be paved with a
three and one-half (~) in. ch aspnalt concrete base and a one and one-
naif (1~) inch Warrenite-Bitulitnic wearing surface.
Including all intersections of streets within the limits of
the above description and excluding therefrom any portions on which
gutters or pavement nave been constructed to the official grade and
excepting also SUCh portions thereof as are required by law to be
paved, kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad
or car tracks thereon.
Also that cement concrete culverts covered with corr~ated
iron be constructed at the intersections of Niles Street with Beale
Avenue, Owens Street, Ga~e Street, Robinson Street, Haley Street and
Brown Street.

and specifications are on file in the office of the City Clerk of tne
City of Bakersfield, and are hereby referred to and by SUCh reference
made a part and portion hereof, and in this connection the said plans
and specifications also snow, the exact location of the aforesaid
work and improvement.
The paving work aforesaid shall be done also in accordance
with the terms add conditions set forth in the Warrenite-Bitulitnic
License Mixture ~greemert, entered into by said City Council with the
Warren Brothers Company, dated f~~ ~., /%~' ,
permitting
the layirg.-~ of a pavement for w~Ficn United Sta.ted Letters Patent are
held by said Company, which Warrenite-Bitulitnic License Mixture
~reement is also on file in the office of said City Clerk and is
hereby referred to; and the wearing.~ surface mixture of said paving work
will be required to be procured of said Warren Brothers Company as
provided in said Warrenite-Bitulitnic License Mixture ~reemer. t.
-And whereas, .said contemplated work and improvement, in
the opinion of the said City Council, is of more than local or ordinary
public benefit, said Council hereby makes the expense of said work
and improvemer, t chargeable upon a district, which district said City
Council hereby declares to be the district ber~fitted by said work
and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses
thereof, and which said district is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the easterly line of Baker Street
150 feet northerly from the northerly line of Niles Street and running
thence easterly on a line 1~0 feet northerly from and parallel to brae
northerly line of ~'iles Street to the westerly line of Williams Street;
thence southerly along the westerly li~e of Williams Street to a
point 150 feet southerly from the southerly line of Niles Street;
a~d parallel to
thence westerly on a line 150 feet sOUtherly from/the southerly line
of Niles Street to the easterly line of Baker Street thence northerly
along the easterly line of Baker 2treet to the point of b~inning.~.
All in the City of Bakersfield, California.

The City Council also deteymines and declares that serial bonds
shall be issued^to represent each assessment of twenty-five dollars or
more remaining unpaid for thirty days after the date of the warrant, or
five days after the deciaion of said Council upon an appeal, to represerb
the expenses of said work and improvement. ~~
Said ser%$~l bonds shall extend over ~ period
nine years from^ ctnd day of January next succeeding their date,
and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be pay-
~le, by coupon, on the second day of January every year after their
date, until the whole is paid; and the interest snail be payable
semi-annually, by coupon, on the second days of January and July, res-
pectively, of each year, at the rate of '~seven per cent (7%) per annum
on all sums unpaid, until the whole of said principal and interest are
paid.
All of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of
an act of the Legislature of the 2tare of California, designated the "im-
provement Act of 1911" approved April 7, 1911, and amendments thereto.
Notic~ is hereby given that on Monday the ~u day of
~ , 1922, at 8 o'clock P.M. at a regular meeting of the said
City Council, in the Council Chambers of said City Council in the City
Hall of the City of Bakersfield, any and all persons having any objec-
tions to the proposed work or improvemert may appear before said City
Council ard snow cause why said proposed improvement snauld not be
carried out in accordance with said Resolution.
The City Clerk of said City ef Bskersfield shall cause
this Resolution of Intention I~o be published twice in The Bakersfield
Californian, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in said
City of Bakersfield, and hereby designated for that purpose by said
City Council.
The ~treeb ~uperintendert of the City of Bakersfield shall
cause to be conspicuously posted alo~ the lines of said contemplated
work and improvement and along all the open streets ~itnin said district
notice of the passage of this Resolution of Intention in the manner and
form required by law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoirg Resolution of Inten-
tio~ was r~%ularly introduced, passed ard adopted by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, at a re~ular meeting of said City Council held on
