Dear Mr. Forrester:
Via Certified Mall,
Return Receipt Reauested
This letter is being addressed to you based on our understanding that you are the
owner of Bakersfield Starz, which leases space inside the East Hills Mall.
It has come to the attention of City officials that the property you are leasing in
the East Hills Mall is being used, after hours, for dance parties which include amplified
music and /or alcohol. Use of the property in this manner violates fire, building, and
zoning provisions which are a detriment to the health, safety and welfare of the
community. The City hereby demands that you take steps to assure that such activities
Immediately CEASE AND DESIST.
City officials from Code Enforcement and Fire Safety have initiated an
investigation into these after -hours activities, and the Police Department is also aware
of the situation. If these events continue, enforcement may include citations and
immediate closure of the unlawful event.
The City is willing to discuss how such events may be properly permitted. If you
are interested in such a discussion, please contact City Building Director, Phil Burns, at
326 -3040 to set up a meeting. In the meantime, we appreciate your immediate
attention to this matter.
