STREET DISTRICT N?. ~ IN THE CITY
OF B~RSFIELD, CALIFORNIA, AND TO
ISSUE BONDS IN PAE¥~EET THEREFOR.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAK~R~PIELD,
That it is the intention of the C~.ty Council of the City of
Bakersfield, to order the following work to be done and improve-
ment to be made in the said City, to-wit:
That the grades on that portion of ~lst Street from R
Street to Union Avenue inclusive, be changed and re-established
from the official grades, as setforth in 0r~inance No. 147 New
Series laa~sed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakers-
field on November 13th, 192E, to the grades proposed therefor
~hich proposed grades are fully setforth an~ shown on the plans,
and which plans are now on file in the office of the City Clerk
of the City of Bakersfield and are hereby specifically reforred to for
further and complete particulars rega~ing the proposed grades
for said portion of 21st Street;
That 20th Street from the easterly line of N Street
to the westerly line of ~ Street be graded; that cement concrete
curbs, gutters and sidewalks be constructed to the official line
and grade on either side of ~aid street amd that the roadway be
paved with a three and one-half inch (3~'~) asphalt concrete base
and a one smd one-half inch (l~") Warrenite Bitulithic wearing
surface;
That R Street from the northerly curb line on 19th
Street to the southerly line of 21st Street be graded; that
cement concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks be constructed to

except that no sidewalk shall be constructed on the southerly .
side of said 21st Street from the easterly line of R Street to
a point 692.~ feet easterly Eherefrom;
Including all intersections of streets and alleys
within the limits of the above descriptions ~nd excludin~
therefro~ the whole or any portion of streets, alleys, street
intersections or alley intersections on which curbs, gutters,
sidewalks or pavement have been constructed to the official
line and grade.
That cement concrete culve~tm covered with corrugated
iron be constructed as shown on the plan at the intersections
of P and Q streets with ~Oth Street and S and V Streets with
~lst Street.

That cement concrete gutter traps be constructed,
either side of ~lst Street at the crossing of the Low
Ail of said work and improvement is to be done in accord-
ante with the plan and specifications herefofore and on the

of B~kersfield, said plans being entitled "PLAN FOI~ THE I~J, PROVE-

CALIF.", and said specifications being entitled "SPECIFICATIOES
OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.", and which said plan and specifications
are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the Olty of
Bakersfield, and are hereby referred to ~d by such reference
made a part ~d portion hereof, and in this connections the said
plan and specifications also show the exact location of the afore-
ssid work and impro~ent.
Attention is called to the ~:~arrenite-Bitulithic License
~,lixture Agreement of ~/~arren Brothers Company of Bomton ~ass.,
of date~/_~t/ /~, 19~2, and on file in the office of the
City Clerk.
AND ~¢HE~EAS, said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of the said City Council is of more than loca~
or ordinary public benefit, said Oouncit hereby makes the costs
and expenses of said work and improvement chargeable upon a dis-
~rict, which district said City Council hereby declares to be the
district benefited by said work and imp~ovement and to be assessed
to pay the costs and expenses thereof, and which said district is
bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the east-
erly line of N Street 122 feet southerly from the southerly line
of ~Oth Street and running thence easterly on a line parallel to
said southerly llne of 20th Street to the easterly line of 0
Street; thence southerly along the easterly line of 0 Street 10
feet; thence easterly on a line 132 feet sout}~erly from and para~ el
to the southerly line of 20th Street to the westez&y line of Q
thence northerly along the w~ste?ly line ~ Q Street 10 feet;
thence easterly on a line 122 feet southerly from and parallel

Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent
unpaid assessments, and bear interest at the rate of seven per cent
(7%) per annum will be issued hereunder in the manner provided
by the Improver~ent Bond Act of 1915, and all acts amendatory
thereof, the last installment of which bonds shall mature nine
years from the 2nd day of ~l~ next succeeding nine months from
their date.
Except as hereinabove otherwise provided for the issuance
of said serial bonds all of the h~rein proposed work shall be
done inppursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of
California, designated the "Improvement Act of 1911" approved
April 7th, 191~, and all acts amendatory thereof.
Notice is hereby given that on ~,,on,tay the ay of
January, 19~, at 8 o!clock P.~. at a regular, meeting of
the said City Council ~n the Council Chamber of said City Coun-
cil in the ~ity Hall of the ~ity of Bakersfield, any and all
personalhaving any obJectibns to t~e proposed work or improve-
ment may appear before said City Council and show cause why said
proposed improve~nent should not be carried out in accordance with
said Resolution.
Notice is further given t~at on ~onday the
of January, l~, at 8 o~clock P.~. which is the time fixed for
hearing objections to the proposed work and improvement, any and
all persons having any objection to the proposed change of said
~rades may appear before said city Council and make objections to
the proposed change of said grades, and failure to make such
objections at such time shall be deemed to be a waiver of all
objections to the proposed change or modifications of grades ~nd
shall operate as a bar to any claim for damages or any subseGuent
action looking to the prevention of the work or the recovery of
day, ages on account of the performance of the work to such changed
grades.
The City Clerk of said City of Bakersfield s~all cause
this Resolution of intention to be published twice in t~e THE
DAILY REPORT, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated
in said City of B~kersfield, and hereby ~estgnated for that
~rpose by said City ~ouncil.
The Street Superintendent of said City of Bakersfield
shall cause to be conspicuously posted alon~ the lines of said
contemplated work and improvement and along all the open streets
within said district notice of the passage of this Resolution of
Intention in the manner and form required by law, and in said
notice he shall call attention to the Warrenite-Bitulithic License
~ixture Agreement of the Warren Brothers Company of Boston, ~ass.,
of date ~~/ /~ , 1922, on file in the office of the
City Clerk.
I hereby certify theft the foregoing Resolution of Inten-
tention was regularly, introduced, passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a regulan meeting of
