RESOLUTION NO. 184— 1 4
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD EXTENDING CALIFORNIA WATER SERVICE
COMPANY'S FRANCHISE FOR WATER.
WHEREAS, on November 9, 1964, the City Council, by adoption of
Ordinance No. 1541 granted to California Water Service Company ( "Cal
Water ") franchise to use, transmit, and distribute water within the City of
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the term of the franchise was for a period of time not to exceed
50 years; and
WHEREAS, said franchise is due to expire on or about November 9, 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Cal Water has requested in writing that the City Council extend
the terms of the existing franchise in order to allow the City and Cal Water to
finalize and submit to this Council a new franchise ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated
herein by reference.
2. The current Cal Water franchise ordinance for water (Ordinance
No. 1541) is hereby extended to June 30, 2015.
