"STREET DISTRICT NO. 81" IN THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
BE I~ RESOLVED ~f Ti-~ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield to order the following work to be done and improvement
to be made in the said City to-wit:
That a strip 24 feet wide and 12 feet on either side of
the following described line of Oak Street be graded and that a
strip 18 feet wide and 9 feet on either side of said line be paved
with a four (4) inch asphalt concrete base and a one and one-half
(1~) inch asphalt concrete (Topeka) wearing surface, said line is
described as follows: beginning at the intersection of the center
line of Oak Street with the extension westerly of the center line
of 24th Street and running thence S-O0O-oEf-~O"-E along the center
line of Oak Street to the beginning of a curve at a point 71.86 feet
distant northerly, ~long said center line, from the extension
westerly of the northerly line of California Avenue; thence to the
right along said curve whose radius is 200 feet a distance of ~.78
feet; thence S-07o-sTf-50"~W a distance of 175.11 feet to the
beginning of a curve whose radius is 200 feet; thence to the left
along said curve a distance 26.55 feet; thence S-O0°-Oi'-~O"-W
along the center line of said Oak Street to its intersection with
the center line of Chester Lane; thence S-O0o-o0~-50"-W along the
center line of said Oak Street to the beginning of a curve at a
point 5~ feet northerly, along said center line, from the extension
westerly of the northerly line of Palm Street; thence to the right
along said curve whose radius is 200 feet a distance of ~.78
feet; thence S-8°-32~-30"-W to an intersection with the extension
westerly of the southerly line of said Palm Street, (excepting
such portions thereof as are required by law to be paved, kept in
order or repair by any person or company having railroad or car
tracks thereon.) Said Street is wholly within the Corporat~,~
limits of the City of Bakersfield, the westerly line of ssid Street
being the westerly City limits of said City as shown upon the map
entitled "HAP OF THE CiTY OF BAK~]RSF~LD," filed for record in the
officer of the County Recorder of Kern County November 25, 1898.
All of said work and improvement is to be done in accord-
ance with the plans and specifications heretofore and on the

and said specifibations being entitled "SPECIFIC!~TIONS FOE THE
INPRO~N~NT OF STREET DISTRICT NO. 81 iN THE CITY OF BAKE~FIELD,
CALIFORNIA.", and which said plans and specifications are on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield, and
are hereby referred to and b such reference made a part and portion
hereof, and in this connection the said plans and specifications
also show the exact location of the aforesaid work and improvement.
And ~ereas, said oontemplated work and i~:provement in
the opinion of said City'Council is of more than local or o~dinary
public benefit, said Council hereb,~ makes the costs and expenses
of said work and improvement chargeable as follows:
That the sum of fifteen thousand
dollars be paid out of the tre:sury of the City of Bakersfield from
the general fund for the purpose of defraying part of the costa
and expenses of the hereinabove mentioned improvement, provided
however, that the above mentioned sum shall not be paid until after
the contractor has fulfilled his contract to the satisfaction of the
Street Superintendent of City of Bakersfield;
And That the balance of the costs and
expenses of said improvement be assessed upon a district, which
district said City Council hereby declares to be the district
benefitted by said work and imp~ovo~ent and which said district
is bounded and doscribed as follows:
Beginning at a point ~n the center line
of 24th Street 132 feet easterly from the easterly line of Oak
Street and running thence southerly on a line 132 feet easterly
from and parallel to the easterly line of Oak Street to the Southerly
line of California Avenue; thence wesl~erly alon~ said southerly
llne of California Avenue a distance of 38.85 feet; thence
southerly on a line 132 feet oasterly from and parallel to the
easterly line of Oak Street to the Southerly line of Palm Street;
thence westerly alon? the southerly line of Palm Street and its
extension westerly a disSLance of 32~ feet; thence northerly on a
straight line to a point in the center llne of Chester ~ane 132
feet westerly from the westerly line of Oak Street; ~hence northerly
on a line 13~ feet westerly from and parallel to the westerly line
of Oak Street to its intersection with the extension westerly of
the southerly line of California Avonue; thence easterly along
said extension a distance of 16.0g foot; thence northerly on a llne
132 feet westerly from and parallel to the westerly line of Oak
Street to its intersection with the extension westerly of the
center line of 24th Street; thence easterly along said extension
and along the center line of 24th Street to the ~oint of beginning.
All of the herein proposed work shhll be done in pur-
suance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California,
designated, "An act to provide for work upon streets, avenues
lanes, alleys, courts, and places forming the exterior boundaries
of any municipality whet ~er partly, or wholly, within or without
said boundaries and providing for the construction of sewers,
drains and sidewalks thereon and in connection therewith,"
approved April 21st, 1911, and all acts amendatory thereof.
The City Clerk of Bakersfield shall cause this
Resolution of Intention to be published twice in the Daii/y
Report, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in
said City of Bakersfield, and hereby designsted for that purpose
by said Council, and he shall also cause to be conspicuously
posted on or near the chamber door of the Council Chambers of the
Council of the City of Bakersfield a copy of said Mesolution of
Intention for two days in the manner and form required by law.
The Street Superintendent of said City of Bakers~'ield
shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the line ~ said
contemplated work and improvement and along all the open streets
within said district a notice beaded "NOTICE OF STREET WORK"
End he shall also cause to be published in THE D.~iLY REPORT, a
daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in said City
of Bakersfield, and hereby designated for that pure, ese by said Council
a copy of said Notice of Street ~ork, for si~ days in the manner
and form required by law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution of Intention
was r~eg~larly introduced, passed and adopted by the Co~mcil of the
City of Bakersfield, at a regular meeting of said Council on the
