BE IT RESOLVED BY Ti?, COUNCIL OF T!!E CITY OF as follows: That it is the intention of the 0ity Council of the City of Bakersfield, to order the following ¥,'ork to be done ~nd improvement to be made in the said City, to-wit: SECTION 1. That that portion of Union Avenue described as follows: beginning at a point in a line 12 feet west of and parallel to the center line cf Union Avenue, said point being ~.~8 feet south of the intersection of said line with the extension westerly of the center line of Sumner Street and is also the point of tangency on a curve whose radius is Ol~ feet, and running thence north- easterly along said curve a distance of 88.1~ feet; thence north- westerly on a curve w~ose radius is ~0.68 feet a distance of feet to the point of tangency on a line 12 feet east of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue; thence north on said line 12 feet east of and p~rallel to the center line of Union~Avenue to a point in a line ~ feet southerly from and parallel to the southerly rail of t~e southerly railroa~ trac~of the §outhern Pacific Company; thence northwesterly along said line parallel to the southerly rail to its intersection with a line l~ feet west of and parallel to the center line of Union Aven~e; thence south along s~,id line feet west of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue to the point of beginning, be graded, and the same area be paved to the official base an~? surface, grade with a three and one.half (G~) inch asphalt concrete a one and one-half (l~) inch w'arrenite-Bitulithic wearing and that a strip three feet wide on either side of the SECTION SECTION 3. above described area be graded as a shoulder. That that portion of Union Avenue described as follows: beginning at a point in a ~ine 12 feet west of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue, said point being 20.14 feet north of the intersection of said line with the extension westerly of the center line of Kentucky Street and running thence south on said line 12 feet west of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue to a point in a line 2 feet northerly from and parallel to the northerly rail of the northerly railroad tracK of the Southern Pacific Company; thence southeasterly along said line parallel to the northerly rail to its intersection with a line 12 feet east of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue; thence north on sai~ line 12 feet east of and parallel to the center line of Union Avenue to the beginning of a curve at a point on said line 65.12 feet south of its intersection with the extension westerly of the center line of Kentucky Street; thence northeasterly along said curve whose radius i~ Z0.66 feet a distance of 4~.0~ feet; thence south 75°- 85~ - ~0" - East 20 feet to the east line of Union Avenue; thence north 5~.12 feet; thence north 7S°-5$~-SO"- West ~7.61 feet; thence west S~ feet to the point of be~inning, be graded and the same area be paved to the official grade with a three and one-half (~) inch asphalt concrete base and a one and one-half (l~) inc~' '%'arrenite-Bitulithic wearing surface and that a strip three feet wide on either side of the above described area be graded as a shoulder. That a strip 24 feet wide and 12 feet on either side of the center line of Union Avenue from a line 2 feet southerly from and parallel to the southerly rail, northerly, across the several railroad tracks of the ~outhern Pacific Company to a line 2 feet northerly from and parallel ~ the northerly rail, be graded and thereupon surfaced with asphalt and rock screenings. The three portions above described being a continuous strip 24 feet wide and lB feet on either side of the center line of Union Avenue from Sumner Street, north, to Kentu0ky Street with the approaches to Sumner Street and Kentucky Streets widened and shaped to meet existing pavements. All in the City of B~ersfield, County of Kern, State of California. All ~f said work and improvement is to be done in accord- ance with the plans and specifications heretofore and on the ~ day of ~ , 1922, adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, said plans being entitled "PLAN FOR THE IEPROV~E~T OF STREET DISTRICT NO.4~ IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIF.", and said specifications being entitled "SPECIFICATIONS F~ THE IMP~©VE- KENT OF STREET DISTRICT NO. ~ IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, C~IF.", and whic~ said plans and specifications are on file in the office of the City Glerk of the.City of Bakersfield, and are hereby referred to and by such reference made a part and portion hereof, Attention is called to the ~arrenite Bitulithic License ~ix~u~e Agreement of ~arren Brothers Company of Boston, ~ass, ~ of date ~ /~ 1922, an+n file in the office of the ~ity Clerk. And '~ereas, said contemplated work and improvement in the opinion of the said ~ity ~ouncil is of more than local or ordinary ~ublic benefit, said Council hereby makes the costs and expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon a dis~rict, which district sai~ City Council hereby declares to be the district benefitted by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereO½, and which said district is bounded and described as follo s. -3- Beginning at a point in the southerly line of Sumner Street ~98 feet easterly from the easterly line of Union Avenue and running thence northerly on a straight line to a point in the souflherly line of Kentucky Street 184.34 feet easterly from the easterly line of Union Avenue; thence northerly on a straight line to a point in the northerly line of Kentucky Street 178.87 feet westerly from the westerly line of Stockton Street; thence northerly on aline 178.8~ feet westerly from andparallel to the westerly line of Stockton Street 150 feet; thence westerly on a line 180 feet northerly from and parallel to the northerly line of Kentucky Street and the extension westerly of said line to its intersection with a line ~0 feet westerly from and parallel to the westerly line of Union Avenue; thence southerly on said line ~0 feet westerly from andparallel to the westerly line of Union Avenue to the north- erly line of ~Bnd Street; thence easterly along the northerly line of ~nd Street to the westerly line of Union Avenue; thence easterly on a straight line to the point of intersection of the easterly line of Union Av~enue and the southerly line of S~nner Street; thence easterly along the ~utherly line of SUmner Street to the point of beginning. All in the City of Bakersfield, California. Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments, mad bear interest at the rate of seven (7~) per cent per annum be issued hereunder in the manner, provided by the Improvement Bond Act of 1915, and all acts amendatory t~ereof, the last installment of which bonds shall mature nine years from the 2nd day of July next succeeding nine months from their date. Except as hereinabove otherwise provided for the issuance of said serial bonds all of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of an act~ of the Legislature of the State of California, designated the "Improvment Act of 1911" approved April Vth, 1911, and all acts amendatory thereof. Notice is hereby given that on ~onday the /~tday of · 1922, at 80~clock P.~i. at s regular meeting of the said City Oouncil in the Co~Lucil Chambers of said City Council in the City Hall of the City of Bakersfield, any andall persons having any objections to the proposed work or improvemenb may appear before said City Council and show cause why said proposed improvement should not be carried out in accordance with said Resolution. The City Clerk of ~id City of Bakersfield shall cause this ~esolution of Intention to be published twice in the THE BAK~$Fi~D CALIF© ~IAN, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in-said City of Bakersfield, and hereby designated for that purpose by said City ~ouncil. The Street Superintendent of said City o~ Bakersfield shall cause to be conspicuously posted ~ong the lines of said con- templated work and imp~.ovement and along all the open streets within said district, notice of the passage of this Resolution of Intention, in the manner and form required by law, and in said notice he shall call attention to the Warrenite-Bithlithic License Mixture Agreement of the ~arren Brothers Company of Boston, Mass., of date May 12th, 1922, on file in the office of the City Clerk.
