THE ALLEY RUNNING NORTH AND SOUTH
THROUGH BLOCKS l, 2 and 12, NERNARD
ADDITION, THE ALLEY HUNNING EAST AND
WEST THROUGH BLOCK 12 BERNARD ADDI-
TION and THE ALLEY RUNNING EAST AND
WEST THROUGH BLOCK 2 BERNARD ADDITION,
ALL IN ~tE CITY OF Bf~ERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
That it is the intention of the Council of the Oity of
Bakersfield to order the following street work to be done and
improvement to be made, to-wit:
'£~at Grace Street from the easterly line of King Street,
easterly, to the westerly line of Beale Avenue; also
That Pearl Street from the easterly line of King Street,
easterly, to the easterly line of Section 20, T. 29, S, R. 28 E.,
M.D.B. & M.; also
That the ~lley running northerly and southerly through
~Blocks l, 2 and 12, from the northerly line of Jefferson Street,
northerly to the southerly line of Bernard Street; also
That the alley running easterly and westerly through
Block 12 from the easterly line of King Street, easterly, to the
westerly line of Beale Avenue; also
That the alley ~nning easterly and westerly through
Block 2 from the easterly line of King Street, easterly to the
westerly line of Beale Avenue, be closed to the public;
All of the above mentioned Blocks, streets and a%leys are
shown on the map entitled "The Revised Nap of the Bernard Addition
to Kern", filed for recordein the office of the County Recorder
of Kern 8ounty, June 12, 189B.
and said. Council does hereby determine and declare that
said proposed work and improvement is of more than local or ordtanry
public benefit, and will affect and benefit the lan4s and district

hereinafter described, and which said district is hereby declared
to be the district affected and benefitted by said work and
improvement, and that therefore the entire damages, costs and
expenses of said work and improvement s~all be and are hereby made
chargeable against and shall be assessable upon said lands and
district, which said district is within the City of Bakersfield,
County of Eern, State of California and the exterior boundaries of the
lands affected and benefitted by said work and improvement are parti-
cularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the
northerly line of Jefferson Street with the easterly line of King
Street and running thence northerly along the easterly line of
King Street to the southerly line of Bernard Street; thence easterly
along the southerly line of Bernard Street to the easterly line of
Section 20, T. 29 S., R. 28 E., M.~.B. & ~.; thence southerly
along said easterly lino of Section 20 to its intersection with the
westerly line of Beale Avenue; thence southerly along the westerly
line of Beale Avenue to the northerly line of Jefferson Street; thence
westerly along the northerly line of Jefferson Street to the point of
beginning. All in the City of Bakersfield, California, in that
portion formerly called kern.
All of the herein proposed work and improvement shall be
done in purcuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of
California, entitled, "AN ACT ~ PROVIDE FOR THE LAYING OUT, OPENING,
EXTENDING, WIDENING, STRAIGHTENING OR CLOSING UP, IN ~OLE OR IN
PART, ANY STREET, SQUARE, LANE, ALLEY, COURT OR PLACE %%~THIN ~UNICI-
PALITIES, AND TO CONDEMN AND ACQUIRE ANY ~ND ALL LAND NECESSARY OR
CONV~IENT FOR THAT PURPOSE," approved Larch 6, 1889, and the
several acts amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto.
THE BAKERSFIELD CALI FO.iNIAN, is hereby designated as the
daily newspaper published and circulated in said City in which the
Street Superintendent~s notice of the passage of this Resolution
shall be published.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of ~he ~ity of Bakersfield on the ~
day of ~. , 1922, by the following vote:
