(Exempt from CEQA) (Ward 4) Motion was made by Commissioner Gay, seconded by Commissioner McGinnis, to approve the non-public hearing items portion of the Consent Calendar. Motion carried. 3.2 Public Hearing Items 3.2a Approval of Vesting Tentative Parcel Map No. 10838 (DeWalt Corp) with memorandums from Public Works Department dated January 31,2002 and the Planning Department dated February 4, 2002. Motion was made by Commissioner McGinnis, seconded by Commissioner Tragish, to approve the public hearing items portion of the Consent Calendar. Motion carried. Motion was made by Commissioner McGinnis, seconded by Commissioner Tkac, to cancel the Planning Commission meeting of March 21,2002 and schedule General Plan hearings for the meeting of April 4, 2002. Minutes, PC, February 7, 2002 Page 3 7. PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ON OPENING PLANNING COMMISSION WITH FLAG SALUTE. Ms. Gennaro said there are no legal issues that the City Attorney's office is aware of associated with the flag salute and that she contacted Arvin, California City, Delano, Fresno, McFarland, Ridgecrest and Wasco and that they all indicated they do a flag salute at their Planning Commission meetings. Motion was made by Commissioner McGinnis, seconded by Commissioner Tkac, that commencing with the February 21,2002, Planning Commission meeting that the meetings be started with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Grady stated that the agenda for February 21, at the request of the Planning Commission, will only include four workshops which are: Traffic and Growth, Water Resources, Parks and Recreation and the Northeast Open Space Plan. COMMISSION COMMENTS Commissioner Tragish requested staff to make a copy of the publication "Road to Ruins" from Kern COG available to the Commission. Mr. Grady said he would. 10. DISCUSSION AND ACTION REGARDING POSSIBLE CANCELLATION OF THE NEXT PRE- MEETING. It was decided to cancel the next pre-meeting. 11.
