HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 025-02RESOLUTION RESOLUTION PROPOSING EXPANSION NO. 17 OF THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SOUTHEAST METROPOLITAN BAKERSFIELD ENTERPRISE ZONE WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield and the County of Kern, as joint applicants, have been designated as co-agents for the Southeast Metropolitan Bakersfield Enterprise Zone; and WHEREAS, Government Code Section 7074, as enacted by the State of California, permits a city or county to propose that the Enterprise Zone may be expanded by up to 20 percent of the original Enterprise Zone land area; and WHEREAS, the total Southeast Metropolitan Bakersfield Enterprise Zone was originally comprised of approximately 2,533 acres, of which approximately 915 acres were within the City, allowing for expansion of approximately 183 acres within the City portion of the Enterprise Zone. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FOUND AND RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield, that prior expansions of that portion of the Enterprise Zone which lies within the City have amounted to approximately 101.23 acres, leaving approximately 81.77 acres for further expansion within the City portion of the Enterprise Zone, that the Council does hereby propose a boundary expansion to the Southeast Metropolitan Bakersfield Enterprise Zone as described in Exhibits A and B attached herewith which would be contiguous to the Enterprise Zone designated boundaries, and that the proposed expansion contains no more than 10.75 acres; the Council does commit and assure that the adopted Enterprise Zone incentives will apply to the proposed expansion and remain in full force and effect through the life of the Enterprise Zone or any extensions thereof; and the Council hereby directs the City Manager to execute and submit the required documentation to the California Trade and Commerce Agency, for review and approval of the boundary expansion. o0o dlk:S:\CHARLES\expansion 17 resolution.wpd OR1GIN~; I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on FEB 2 0 200Z, by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERCARSON, BENHAM, MAGGARD, COUCH, HANSON, SULLIVAN, SALVAGGIO COUNCILMEMBER ~ COUNCILMEMBER ~ COUNCILMEMSER ~ CITY CLERK and EX O~cio ~erk of the Council of the City of Bakersfield APPROVED FiB 20 ZOO?.
