HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 020-15RESOLUTION NO OQ 15 RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT A CRYSTAPLEX® SEAMLESS 590 PLUSTm ACRYLIC SHIELDING SYSTEM AND COMPATIBLE ALUMINUM FLEX CHANNEL CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE AND PURCHASE A CRYSTAPLEX® SEAMLESS 590 PLUSTm ACRYLIC SHIELDING SYSTEM AND COMPATIBLE ALUMINUM FLEX CHANNEL FROM ATHLETICA SPORTS SYSTEMS, NOT TO EXCEED $165,000. WHEREAS, the American Hockey League ( "AHL ") recently announced a franchise will relocate to Bakersfield and intends to play at Rabobank Arena ( "Arena ") beginning in the 2015 -16 AHL season; and WHEREAS, the AHL requires a certain type of shielding system for its venues; and WHEREAS, the existing seamless, tempered glass shielding system which surrounds the ice surface at the Arena is original facility equipment from 1998 and no longer meets player safety and operational standards set by the AHL; and WHEREAS, the quality of a new shielding system, facility conversion efficiencies and resources available to install such a system within the time frame allotted are of utmost importance to the City; and WHEREAS, Arena staff, through significant evaluation, has determined only one vendor provides the combination of product and service to meet the aforementioned requirements; and WHEREAS, that vendor has been determined to be Athletica Sports Systems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2.
