Congressman Thomas brought $630 million to the community for the backbo highway system. State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) funds arE to start construction of the Westside Parkway. A total of over $800 million in � available - by far the greatest opportunity for highway improvements the City seen. But, at the same time, construction costs for highways has risen at extraordin� and hundreds of millions of dollars over and above those referenced above n generated to complete the required highway projects. Metropolitan Baker; been growing at record breaking rates. Public focus on the shortcomings and the highway system seems to be at an all time high. Environmental chal development proposals based on transportation related challenges are unprecedented levels. In light of these circumstances, the City and County need to: • Establish added funding sources; • Re-evaluate the transportation plan assumptions not funded by TRIP or • Rethink mitigation requirements to assure full mitigation measures are and • Work in partnership with community organizations, or State I� delegation, and all interested parties to address critical funding issu� single community voice. ....
