The k Governments initiated discussions with Golden Empire Transit (GET), the and the City to look for funding opportunities for accessibility improver resulted in the award of $600,000 for improvements that will inclu sidewalks and concrete pads at the bus stops for future benches and sh In addition, after discussion between the four agencies, GET staff propc Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds to their Board on Tuesda� Board was in favor of the improvements and recommended to doublE amount, resulting in at least $1 million of TDA funding that will be used fo and accessibility improvements at the bus stops. The GET Board has rec work with the City and County on identifying bus stop locatior improvements. � The State Department of Finance released its annual population rep� Overall, the state's population grew by .9 percent in 2014, adding 358,0� of January 1 St, 2015, the estimated population in the City of Bakersfiel Bakersfield remains the 9th largest City in the state, behind Oakland ahead of Anaheim (351,433). Mr. Pronovost has been with the City since 1997, first in Accounting Clerk and then to IT in 2000. Mr. Pronovost will work under the direction of IT Director Dave Hecht. To identify potential impacts, trees that were identified during i were compared to the project's current design, including roadway improvements, soun� grading activities. Based on this impact analysis, an estimated 168 trees may be impac construction of the 24th Street Improvement Project. A map of potentially impacted tre as Attachment 1. In an effort to avoid and minimize impacts to the existing trees along the project corrid identified 22 of these trees that may potentially be protected in place. In the coming w� will conduct a survey of these 22 trees to assess their health, and to provide a recomme whether these trees could potentially be protected in place. Summary of Requirements for Tree Replacement: As listed in Attachment 2, there are a number of environmental commitments containe� Street Improvement Proj ect that relate to tree removal and replacement. In summary, t do not require a minimum replacement ratio for trees impacted. However, Measure V- that, where feasible, trees be planted to soften hardscape features throughout the projec addition, Measure V-2 specifies that trees should be planted were feasible along 24th S1 the pedestrian experience. Finally, although not specifically referring to tree replacemf Measure V-5 recommends a vegetation buffer, which may or may not include trees, th� installed south of the S-curve between the proposed roadway and existing residents. As discussed in each of the measures below, the proposed landscape palette for this prc designed to ensure that: recommended species are well suited for local conditions; spe similar water requirements; and roadway line-of-sight is maintained.
