A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD EXTENDING CALIFORNIA WATER SERVICE
COMPANY'S FRANCHISE FOR WATER.
WHEREAS, on November 9, 1964, the City Council, by adoption of
Ordinance No. 1541 granted to California Water Service Company ( "Cal
Water ") franchise to use, transmit, and distribute water within the City of
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the term of the franchise was for a period of time not to exceed
50 years; and
WHEREAS, said franchise was due to expire on or about November 9, 2014,
so on October 22, 2014, City Council extended the term of the franchise to June
30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, due to ongoing negotiations between the City and Cal Water,
it is necessary that the City Council extend the terms of the existing franchise in
order to allow the City and Cal Water to finalize and submit to this Council a
new franchise ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated
herein by reference.
2. The current Cal Water franchise ordinance for water (Ordinance
No. 1541) is hereby extended to December 31, 2015.

HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted
by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
