A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE
PYXlS AUDIO RECORDING SYSTEM CANNOT
BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE
USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO
DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT
TO EXCEED $44,000.
WHEREAS, CITY currently has a VESTA Phone System; and
WHEREAS, the PYXIS Audio Recording System allows for the recording of all
Police radio and telephone traffic in the Communications Center for later reproduction; and
WHEREAS, any audio recording system purchased by the City of Bakersfield must
be compatible with the VESTA Phone System; and
WHEREAS, the VESTA Phone System and the PYXIS Audio Recording System are
both manufactured by Plant Equipment, Inc. and are designed to be compatible with one
another; and
WHEREAS, only the PYXIS Audio Recording System has been identified as being
compatible with the VESTA Phone System; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase the PYXIS Audio Recording System
because of the necessity to successfully integrate such work, supplies, equipment or
materials into an existing City project or system,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference.
2. The work, supplies, equipment or materials can only be reasonably obtained
from one vendor because of the need to successfully integrate such work, supplies,
equipment or materials into an existing City project or system.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in accordance
with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for said work, supplies, equipment or material shall
not exceed Forty Four Thousand Dollars ($44,000).
