� The Bakersfield Police Department will be celebrating its 100th year
August 4th at its National Night Out event. The community is invited tc
strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Th

� The 18th and Eye Street parking garage automation project is schec
construction on Monday, July 27th. This project will remove the gate c
floor and re-establish entry/exit points on the ground floor, thus openin�
garage to the public. There may be interim disruption to access at oi
other over the next week or two, but the garage will remain open to th�
the construction period. We anticipate the automation portion of the
fully operational on or about Aug. 17th. The restriping of the first two
exterior signage improvements will be completed later this year. A lettE

� Good News! This past weekend we had some rain activity throughout
the Water Resources Department, precipitation was measured at

� A few months ago we reported to you that Truxtun Lake West would ev
as part of the City's effort to conserve water during the drought. The la
multiple uses, including recreation and groundwater recharge. With
being dry, Water Resources crews have taken the opportunity to clean
the lake area. When water is available to replenish the lake, it will now K
into the aquifer at a quicker rate.
�# Recreation and Parks has had a busy summer! City pools have been �
individuals this past month, a 15.7� increase compared to June 2C
50,028. This significant increase was most likely due to the amount of di
lessons offered through grants and free admission to Recreation Swii
Jefferson Pools. Residents have also expressed their appreciation for tr
programs offered such as "Rethink Your Drink" and "Tips of the Day"
activities at the pools such as Family Fun Nights and Wacky Fridays.

TRIP and Other Traffic Updates
❖ REMINDER: Rosedale Highway Weekend Closure
A full round-the-clock weekend closure is planned for Rosedale High
Mohawk Street and Landco Drive, beginning Friday, July 24 at 8 p.m. c
through 6 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015. The closure is needed to
Joaquin Valley Railroad to replace the panels across the roadway
construction work along this section of Rosedale Highway. This work is bE
in conjunction with the Rosedale Highway Widening Project.

18t" & Eye Street Parking
Notice to All Monthly Card Holders

The City has operated the parking garage at 18t" & Eye Streets since the mid-1980
the first two floors are open to the general public for parking while the floors abovE
reserved for monthly paying customers. This configuration at times limits the ability
customers and visitors to the downtown area to find convenient parking, causing 1
to both local businesses and their customers.
To resolve this issue Council approved a new parking automation system at the fa�
March 25, 2015. The installation of this new equipment is scheduled for the week c
with the tentative plan for the system to be fully operational by August 17, 2015. Ir
the second floor access gate will be removed completely, which will open up the
the facility for general public parking.
In the interim, there will be some temporary interruptions in services and access fo�
parking customers until the completion of the project. One of the two access gat

Council Meeting, will take effect. The rate increase in daily and monthly fees is de

SUBJECT: Evaluation of Street Pavement Conditions

Councilmember Maxwell requested that staff provide a presentation
to the City Council that covers the process for evaluating street
pavement conditions for potential repair.
The City maintains approximately 1258 miles of roadway. Public Works staff re
evaluate Arterial and Collector streets annually for the preparation of the F1
The streets are evaluated based on the pavement condition, maintenance e
volume of traffic. Staff evaluates and ranks the street conditions using cri
include the type of distress, the severity of the distress, the type of repair nE
