CITY OF BAKERSFIELD – TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT

TRANSPORTATION OFFICER I/II/III
Bakersfield Police Department
SALARY:
$18.00 – $20.00/hr. DOQ
DUTIES:
Under general direction, incumbents perform the following duties:
Accepts custody of arrestee and property from police officers;
Maintains custody
of arrestee until the completion of the booking process;
Escorts arrestee during medical clearance prior to booking;
Completes paperwork for booking arrestee and their property;
Operates
radios and Mobile Data Computers;
Operates a city vehicle as directed;
May transport prisoners at the direction of a ranking officer;
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
and professionalism with those contacted during the performance of assigned duties;
Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Age: Must be 18 years of age at time of application.
Educatio
n: Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
License: Possess a valid Class “C” California driver’s license.
Felony: Record must be free from any felony convictions.
Employment: Verification
of your legal right to work in the United States.
Desirable: PC 832 Arrest and Control; First Aid/CPR card; law enforcement experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Willing and able to
work varied hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Successfully complete required training and certification.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Pre-Investigative Background questionnaire
(PIBQ) and Personal History Statement (PHS): Qualified candidates will be required to submit a COMPLETED PIBQ and PHS.
Background Investigation: Prior to appointment, applicants must
successfully complete an investigation of their personal history and background which includes a polygraph to determine suitability for the position of Transportation Officer with the
Bakersfield Police Department.
Applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment must successfully pass a pre-employment medical exam which will include a substance abuse screening.
