1. Bakersfield Fire Department Firefighters were deployed earlier this w�
several State of California Office of Emergency Services (OES) Firefightin
sent to assist with operations refated to multiple wild fires threatening nor
communities. BFD deployments include:
Strike Team OES 5804B: BFD OES Engine 299 assigned to the "Wild Fi
County, near Yosemite.
Strike Team XKE 5028A: BFD Engine 6 assigned to the "Lightning
Madera/Fresno area.
Strike Team XKE 5028B: BFD Engine 1 assigned to "Local Needs" st�
Kern Operational Area.
Other BFD Firefighters were deployed as part of the Central Coas
Management Team 7, and recently assigned to the "lndians Fire" near
Los Padres National Forest.
2. The Downtown Trolley was previewed last night at Thursday night's StrE
trolley will provide free rides throughout downtown Bakersfield Monday
from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
3. We will be celebrating Beale Park's 100-year anniversary on Sunday, J
ceremony starts at 6:00 p.m. with entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m. T
culminate with the popular patriotic songs by the Bakersfield Municipal
picnic and enjoy an evening of free entertainment for the whole family.

SUBJECT: FLASHING LIGHT WHITE LANE/OLD RIVER

VICE-MAYOR HANSON REQUESTED STAFF STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF
INSTALLING A WARNING LIGHT BEFORE THE BEND ON WHITE LANE EA;
RIVER ROAD INTERSECTION AND REPORT BACK TO COUNCIL.
Traffic Engineering reviewed the location and warrants for installing a"curve" w
a"traffic signal ahead" warning flashing beacon light. The existing curvature of
is a large radius curve and does not warrant a"curve" warning flashing beacon
visibility of the approach to the traffic signal is also very good and does not meE
warrants for installation of a"traffic signal ahead" flashing beacon.
Traffic Engineering staff continue to monitor this, and other City roadways for
improvements as needed for safe and efficient flow of traffic and will propose cl
when appropriate.

LOCATIONS ALONG OLIVE DRIVE BETWEEN VERDUGO AND JEWETTA.
Traffic Engineering will evaluate the intersections between Verdugo and Jewett;
potential traffic signal locations. To be included in the consideration will be the
evaluation of traffic signal warrants, future traffic volumes and the ability to coor
such signals in the corridor. This evaluation will require additional traffic data co
and is expected to take about 6 to 8 weeks for completion, depending on currer
program demands.
