We rushed through an application for Prop 1 B monies from the state becausE "first come-first served". We are happy to report that we were successful v� application that will widen and resurface portions of White Lane and Stc Highway -$4.8 million total. We anticipate issuing bids in January. 2. We have been advised that the law firm will vacate the second and fifth floors Hall North during the Thanksgiving weekend. After they are gone, there arE repairs and minor remodels that need to be done. It is probable that tf Manager's office, Risk Management, and the City Clerk will be the first to mo� that Finance and Treasury will follow. We do not have a precise sched� pending seeing the building being vacant and knowing repair issues witl certainty. When we are in, all Council committees and most advisory boards relocated over there. Public Works administration will move into this s� Subdivisions into the Clerks area — much of this building will be Infoi Technology in the end. 3. We will begin constructing improvements to the Kern Island Canal in Downt� the Mill Creek Linear Park on Monday, December 1 St. We will be closing 1 18tn Streets between "R" and "S" Streets to through traffic. When work on 1gt� is complete, traffic will resume normal operation; however, 17t" Street permanently closed between "R" and "S" Streets to accommodate a pedestrian plaza at that location. The estimated completion date of this pr January 31, 2009. 4. Construction activities are also expected to im� traffic on 21 St Street; 19th Street; and Truxtun Avenue in the vicinity of the Kern I; Canal. When work on 18�' Street is complete, traffic will resume normal operati� however, 17t" Street will be permanently closed between "R" Street and "S" Stre� accommodate a future pedestrian plaza at that location.
