2. We have received notice that the State Pooled Money Investment Accoui

duration of the freeze is unknown — perhaps depending on the resolution

budget impasse.
This State action impacts projects that are already approved and we ma

SUBJECT: Sales Tax Update
I received the most recent quarterly sales tax data, which reflects the activity and sales
months of July, August and September of 2008. The quarterly and annual trend inforrn
follows:
Comparing the most recent quarter with the same quarter last year — positive 6.1
Comparing the most recent four quarters with the prior four quarters — down 0.1
This is the first quarter in the past two years where we have seen a positive growth c
the same quarter of the prior year. The annualized revenue trend is still negative (
don't have the details by business segment yet, but I would expect the high gas prices
three month period (July, August, September) were a significant contributor to the
expected revenues for the quarter.
While this quarters' information is good news, I would not consider this a positive tt
and would strongly caution against such an idea. Given the market crash in Octobf
numerous negative news articles and market reports over the last three months I would
positive quarter to be a gift and fully expect the next quarterly report to revert back tc
trend.
