The annualized revenue negative. While this quarters' information is good news, this does not indicate a turning point. Given the market crash in October 2008 an negative news articles and market reports over the last three months, quarter is a gift, but we should fully expect the next quarterly report to rev negative trend. 2. We have received notice that the State Pooled Money Investment Accoui frozen funds. As discussed at the Council Meeting, projects impacted are project, the Westside Parkway, a piece of a Baker Street Housing project, (a housing project), and the Kern River Upland & River Edge Restoration duration of the freeze is unknown — perhaps depending on the resolution budget crisis. We are writing our legislative delegate asking for a reso budget impasse. This State action impacts projects that are already approved and we ma reimbursement for our outside contracts and obligations. Smith, Finance Director 1.` DATE: December 18, 2008 SUBJECT: Sales Tax Update I received the most recent quarterly sales tax data, which reflects the activity and sales months of July, August and September of 2008. The quarterly and annual trend inforrn follows: Comparing the most recent quarter with the same quarter last year — positive 6.1 Comparing the most recent four quarters with the prior four quarters — down 0.1 This is the first quarter in the past two years where we have seen a positive growth c the same quarter of the prior year. The annualized revenue trend is still negative ( don't have the details by business segment yet, but I would expect the high gas prices three month period (July, August, September) were a significant contributor to the expected revenues for the quarter. While this quarters' information is good news, I would not consider this a positive tt and would strongly caution against such an idea. Given the market crash in Octobf numerous negative news articles and market reports over the last three months I would positive quarter to be a gift and fully expect the next quarterly report to revert back tc trend.
