1. This week the City Manager's Office, City Clerk's Office and Risk M�
relocated to 1600 Truxtun Avenue (City Hall North). The customer servi�
located on the west side of the first floor is now staffed and open for busii
final relocation to City Hall North will be completed in February, when tr
Department consolidates its operations there. An opportunity to tour the r
will be scheduled in the new year.
2. We learned of an additional impact to the City of Bakersfield as a result of
State action to freeze Pooled Money Investment Account (PMIA) funding.
Marin sports complex project includes a significant amount of funding from I
40 (2002), which is being held by the State as a result of the PMIA freeze. �
will delay this project going out to bid until late January, in the hopes we
resolution to this situation.
3. The 4t" Annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place on New Year's Day at
Aquatic Center starting at 11:OOAM. Participants will "take the plunge" dov�
into the cold water, then make their way to the other end of the pool. Ho�
and sweatshirts will await the brave souls. Polar Bear activities occur wc
New Year's Day as a way to wash away the old year and bring in the new �

5. Kwanzaa celebrations at the Dr. Martin Luther King Center had about 200
in attendance. The celebration was held on December 27th and this was 1
attendance for this event to date.
6. As a reminder, City Hall will be closed for the holidays on January 1 St and 2"`

SUBJECT: BAKER STREET SIDEWALK REPAIR

COUNCILMEMBER BENHAM REQUESTED STAFF PREPARE A LETTER TO �
SABA, FOR HER SIGNATURE, WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHAT ACTION THE
TAKING TO ADDRESS HIS CONCERNS ABOUT THE BROKEN CEMENT ON -
CORNER AT 917 BAKER STREET AND THANK HIM FOR NOTIFYING HER OF
PROBLEM.
The broken curb at the comer of the alley entrance, adjacent to 917 Baker Street
added to the Streets Division's concrete repair list. In the meantime, the curb will
with asphalt as a temporary safety measure.
A letter in response to Mr. Saba's concerns was prepared for Councilmember Be
signature according to her direction, a copy of which is attached.
