General Information November 20, 2015 Page 2  Next week, for the first time, students in Bakersfield schools will have the entire week off. As a result, the Recreation and Parks Department has decided to hold day camps at Silver Creek and MLK Community Centers, Monday through Wednesday. Youth attending will have fun by participating in arts & crafts, sports, games and many other activities. Recreation and Parks will also offer these same camps three days prior to the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays. Please call (661) 386-3866 for additional details.  We are excited to announce that this Saturday and Sunday, November 21st and 22nd, Mesa Marin and Beach Park ballfields will be hosting a 3- team youth softball tournament. Play will begin at 7:00 a.m., and continue throughout the day. Unfortunately, nine teams were turned away because of a lack of facilities. However, with the additional fields planned to be built next year at the Mesa Marin Sports complex, we will be able to accommodate more teams in the future! The tournament organizers are aware of this and are excited about expanding their tournament. Traffic Advisory  Beltway Operational Improvements Project Northbound State Route 99/Ming Avenue on-ramp closed through Wednesday The northbound on-ramp from Ming Avenue to State Route 99 was closed to traffic yesterday and will remain closed through Wednesday evening, November 25th. The around-the-clock closure is needed to complete the reconstruction of this ramp. During the closure, motorists can access northbound State Route 99 from the on-ramp located about one mile north of Ming Avenue on Wible Road. Motorists who want to access eastbound State Route 58 should travel east on Ming Avenue to Chester Avenue, turn left (north), and use the Chester Avenue on-ramp to State Route 58. Motorists should also anticipate nighttime lane closures on State Route 58, between State Route 99 and Cottonwood Road, and on State Route 99, between State Route 58 and Wilson Road. These closures would be in effect on Sunday, November 22nd and Monday, November 23rd. No freeway lane closures are anticipated Wednesday, November 25th through Sunday, November 29th due to the holiday weekend. General Information November 20, 2015 Page 3  Nighttime Lane Closures on Calloway Drive at Rosedale Highway Continue Next Week The nighttime northbound lane closures on Calloway Drive at Rosedale Highway are expected to continue next week, Sunday, November 22nd through Tuesday, November 24th. The lane closures are expected to be in effect between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Crews are currently working on a drainage system for the Rosedale Highway Widening Project and this section of northbound Calloway Drive will be down to one lane while work is underway. All southbound lanes are expected to remain open while work is performed, and northbound lanes will re-open in time for the morning commute each day. Crews also continue to work in other areas along Rosedale Highway during nighttime hours. This work may require lane closures of either lane in either direction, but at least one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic. All lanes are expected to open in time for the morning commute. This work is ongoing and motorists should anticipate the potential for nighttime lane closures on Rosedale Highway to continue, Sunday through Thursday, for several months. No work is planned for Wednesday, November 25th through Sunday, November 29th due to the holiday weekend.
