HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 122-02RESOLUTION NO. 122-02 A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN EQUIPMENT CAN ONLY BE REASONABLY OBTAINED FROM ONE VENDOR, L. N. CURTIS & SONS, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $356,000. WHEREAS, CITY Fire and County Fire currently have Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus' (SCBA) manufactured by Survivair; and WHEREAS, City currently has JPA agreement with Kern County (No. 99-125) that provides for joint operational procedures; and WHEREAS, OSHA regulations have completely changed the SCBA standards and the retrofitting costs of our current model are not economically prudent; and WHEREAS, compatibility between City and County Fire departments' life-safety equipment is mandatory due to sharing of equipment during joint fires; and WHEREAS, Survivair SCBA's can only be acquired through one vendor, to wit: b N. Curtis & Sons, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The work, supplies, equipment or materials can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of restricted availability of such work, supplies, equipment or materials. 3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. 4. The expenditure of funds for said work, supplies, equipment or material shall not exceed Three-hundred fifty-six thousand Dollars ($356,000).
